Property taxes are due at the end of September, but because Sept. 30 falls on a weekend, Juneau residents have until Monday to postmark their payments.
Both real and business personal property taxes are due, as a City and Borough of Juneau public service announcement stated Wednesday. There are three ways for people to pay:
• Mail payment to CBJ, 155 S. Seward Street, Juneau AK 99801
• Drop off payment at CBJ’s Cash Office in City Hall or one of CBJ’s three dropboxes at SuperBear Supermarket, Foodland IGA or City Hall. Payments must be in by midnight, Oct. 2 to avoid late penalties.
• Payment by credit card at www.officialpayments.com or phone (1-800-272-9829). Use Juristiction Code 1202. There will be a convenience fee for paying with a card.
A 5 percent penalty will be assessed on all unpaid tax balances as of Tuesday, Oct. 3. In addition to the penalty, interest will accrue at 15 percent per year on the unpaid balance beginning October 2017.
