The 34th annual Alaska-Juneau Public Market will take place this weekend in Centennial Hall.
For those looking to do some Black Friday shopping, the holiday retail market will open at noon on Friday and run through Sunday evening.
More than 160 vendors — 38 of whom are entirely new to the event — will be selling their wares at this year’s market, according to a press release from Peter Metcalfe, organizer of the event.
This year, about half of all vendors will come to town from 24 communities outside of Juneau. The rest are home grown.
“‘Alaskapella’, a University of Alaska choral group, will amble through the Public Market singing Christmas songs, and the Juneau Cello Choir will set up on Saturday at 3 p.m. to practice their holiday music repertoire,” the press release reads.
Santa is expected to make an appearance at about 11 a.m. Sunday.
Admission for the event is $7 for a weekend pass. Children younger than 12 get in free, and the Public Market Annex at the Juneau Arts and Culture Center is free of charge.
Hours are Friday, noon to 7 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
