Regional task force announces drug arrest in Ketchikan

A Ketchikan man was arrested on drug charges after police say he took possession of a shipment containing heroin and methamphetamine.

On Monday, Larry P. Marsden, 40, of Ketchikan was arrested on charges of second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance and third-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance after a Southeast Alaska Cities Against Drugs Task Force investigation conducted in conjunction with Ketchikan Police Department, according to KPD.

The arrest comes after investigators intercepted a parcel containing drugs, according to KPD. After the suspect took possession of the parcel at a Bear Valley Residence, he was contacted by investigators, who further searched the suspect and his belongings.

More methamphetamine and heroin as well as fentanyl and $13,127 in cash were seized, according to KPD.

Marsden was taken to Ketchikan Correctional Center. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for the morning of Sept. 9 in Ketchikan.
