ANCHORAGE — Authorities say a man in a small Alaska village tried to bribe a public safety officer and then dragged the officer behind his vehicle.
Alaska State Troopers say a 25-year-old Ketchikan resident was in Saxman, a village of about 400 people just south of Ketchikan, without the third-party custodian required as a condition of his release from jail.
Saxman’s Village Public Safety Officer Corey Padron says the man gave him a false name and offered him $500 to go free. Troopers say the man fled in his vehicle when Padron tried to arrest him, dragging Padron more than 50 feet before crashing into another vehicle and running off.
Padron and the other driver were taken to a medical center and released after treatment.
Ketchikan police arrested the suspect at a home in Saxman.
