The Juneau School District Board of Education is developing the budget for the 2017-18 school year. The public is invited to participate in two public forums on the budget.
The first forum is at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Juneau-Douglas High School library, and the second is at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Thunder Mountain High School library.
The Board of Education uses a zero-based budgeting building system, rather than a budget cutting process. This system is intended to prioritize spending so that items with higher priorities are funded first as revenue is available. The board is seeking input from employees, families, students and the community. The public is asked to voice their opinion about what works in Juneau’s schools and what should be priority items for funding.
Budget information, documents and reports can be found on www.juneauschools.org under “Links.” Information will be added as it becomes available.
