Three “Community Budget Input Sessions” have been scheduled by the Juneau School District starting Wednesday as officials consider how to deal with an expected $8 million deficit for the fiscal year ending June 30, as well a preventing deficit spending in future years.
Proposals to address the shortfall include consolidating schools and having the municipal government take over some “shared costs.”
The first community session is scheduled from 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Thunder Mountain High School Library. A second in-person session is scheduled from 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, in the Juneau-Douglas High School: Yadaa.at Kalé Library.
A virtual session via Zoom is also scheduled from 5-6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, with the meeting link available at www.juneauschools.org.
