The Juneau-based regional Native corporation Sealaska reported that its shareholders elected three incumbents and one newcomer to its board of directors at its annual meeting in Ketchikan Saturday.
Incumbents Jodi Mitchell, Richard Rinehart and Jackie Johnson Pata all held onto their seats on the board while carver Michael “Mick” Beasely picked up the fourth open seat.
Just over half of Sealaska’s shareholders participated in this year’s election, according to a press release from the Native corporation. All four recently elected board members’ terms will expire at the 2019 meeting.
Board newcomer Beasley penned a ballot measure that would’ve set term limits for board members, but that didn’t receive a majority of all possible ballots, which it would’ve needed in order to pass.
Sealaska is owned by more than 22,000 shareholders, according to a corporation statement.
