Sealaska shareholders are invited to a community meeting hosted by the corporation’s board of directors and management at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Elizabeth Peratrovich Hall.
The meeting will discuss the ongoing board election and the corporation’s recent financial report. Earlier this week, Sealaska announced that its corporate subsidiaries had posted a profit for the first time in 14 years, completing a major financial turnaround.
Board elections are ongoing online through June 21. Votes can also be cast through the mail or in person at the Sealaska Corp. annual meeting June 23 in Wrangell.
The independent candidates this year are Nicole Hallingstad, Edwell John Jr. and Karen Taug.
This year’s board-endorsed candidates are Barbara Cadiente-Nelson, Albert Kookesh, Tate London, Joe Nelson and Bill Thomas.
Additional meetings will take place Thursday in Haines and Friday in Hoonah.
Wednesday’s meeting will be webcast via MySealaska.com. Anyone who views the cast must be logged in to their account.
