ANCHORAGE — An Alaska-based production company has been filming in the city of Seward for an upcoming Netflix project starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Hudson.
SprocketHeads was working in the city for about a week and wrapped up the photography work for “Sandy Wexler” this month, KTUU-TV reported.
Carolyn Robinson, the company’s owner, said casting directors found people in Alaska to be the body doubles for Sandler and Hudson during the filmed segments in Seward. She said the group’s work will have a small role in the film.
“It’s going to be a small amount. The exact amount I don’t know, because as you well know, everything changes in the edit room,” Robinson said.
Steven Rychetnik, cinematographer for SprocketHeads, was in Seward shooting on-location. He has also worked on other films partially based in Alaska such as “The Frozen Ground,” “Big Miracle” and “Beyond.”
According to the Internet Movie Database, “Sandy Wexler” will also feature frequent Sandler collaborators Kevin James of “Paul Blart: Mall Cop,” and Rob Schneider, known for his role in “Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo.”
SprocketHeads, which has operated since 1995, said they are unable to release more details about the film, as Netflix is overseeing its promotion.
