The state announced on Wednesday 116 new COVID-19 cases.
All 116 cases are residents, and the cases are spread among 14 communities. The majority of the cases were reported in Anchorage, 56 cases, and Fairbanks, 28 cases, according to Alaska Department of Health and Social Services. The Nome Census Area also reported a double-digit, single-day increase.
The state reported one new death, which raises the state’s total to 59. The person who died was an Anchorage man in his 70s, according to the state.
City and Borough of Juneau did not report new cases on Wednesdays.
