State confirms Lemon Creek Correctional Center employee tests positive for COVID-19.

Staff and inmates were notified.

A Lemon Creek Correctional Center employee tested positive for COVID-19, according to Alaska Department of Corrections.

The staff member is the first DOC employee to test positive for the illness, according to DOC.

LCCC notified inmates and staff of the confirmed case Thursday afternoon, according to DOC, and a response plan was implemented immediately.

DOC will work closely with the Alaska Section of Epidemiology to facilitate a contact investigation, according to DOC, and more information will be available in the coming days.
