The Juneau School District invites STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) professionals, community members and teachers to a community-wide discussion about the state of STEM education in the district.
The conversation will launch the science curriculum revision and the adoption of the Next Generation Science Standards.
The meeting “JSD State of STEM” is open to the public 4:30-6 p.m. today in the Juneau-Douglas High School library.
JSD Director of Teaching & Learning Support Ted Wilson, current teacher and former Einstein Fellow Jennifer Thompson and Juneau Economic Development Council STEM Program Manager Rebecca Soza will be part of the conversation. The goals are to form a vision of what a strong STEM program looks like, give an overview of the curriculum review process, examine case studies from other districts and conduct small group discussions of current resources and needs.
