The Alaska Department of Transportation is soliciting proposals for a surveyor to mark a road between Kake and Petersburg.
Logging roads already trace the forest on the north end of Kupreanof Island, but the state plans to improve approximately 23 miles of logging roads and 22 miles of a new, single-lane, unpaved road to connect Kake and Petersburg.
The cost of the survey is expected to be between $250,000 and $500,000. It would take place in fall and winter this year.
