The state reported Saturday nearly 80 new COVID-19 cases and a new death.
Seventy-eight new cases —62 residents and 16 nonresidents —were added to the state’s total, according to Alaska Department of Health and Social Services’ data.
The state has now had 1,795 total cases among residents and 364 among nonresidents, according to state data. So far, 708 people have recovered. There are 1,069 active cases.
The newly reported death raises the number of Alaskans confirmed to have died with COVID-19 to 18. The person who died was an Anchorage woman in her 50s with underlying health conditions, according to a DHSS news release.
One hew hospitalization was also reported. So far, 99 Alaskans have been hospitalized with COVID-19, according to state data.
City and Borough of Juneau announced Saturday the city had its first new hospitalization since April.
