The Alaska Department of Transportation is seeking bids for a $1 million to $2 million project to rebuild the harbor at Baranof Warm Springs, a small town on the east side of Baranof Island.
According to project documents, the state intends to demolish the existing timber floats in the harbor, along with their supporting pilings and steel gangway. The existing harbor infrastructure would be replaced with new timber floats, a new set of seaplane floats, new steel pilings and an aluminum gangway and supports.
If funding allows, an additional harbor float could be constructed.
According to project documents, the work is to be finished by Dec. 31.
