A shooter fled the scene of a shooting at Eliason Harbor in Sitka on Saturday, leading police to ask city residents to stay inside. A suspect was apprehended less than an hour later.
Sitka Police Department isn’t releasing additional details at this time.
“We are not releasing the shooter’s name, but we have him in custody. Sitka is safe now,” a SPD dispatcher said when reached for comment.
SPD will have administrative staff available this weekend to provide further details when more information is released to the pubblic.
An SPD Facebook post from 7:05 p.m. Saturday stated that a shooter had fled the scene of a domestic violence issue at the harbor, the post states. SPD warned Sitkans to stay inside at that time.
The suspected shooter was apprehended less than an hour later, a subsequent SPD Facebook post states.
Sitka’s harbormaster said he was too busy to comment when reached by phone Saturday evening.
