PALMER — An Alaska State Trooper responding to a vehicle in a ditch in Palmer was injured when a sport utility vehicle crashed into his parked patrol car.
The trooper just after 9:30 p.m. Thursday was parked near Mile 12.5 Old Glenn Highway.
An SUV driven by 34-year-old Oliver Kapusciok spun out of control and slid toward the patrol car. A press release says the trooper attempted to get into his patrol car to avoid being hit.
The SUV struck the patrol car and the driver-side door slammed onto the trooper’s leg.
The SUV then smashed into another car parked on the edge of the road. The crashes disabled all three vehicles.
The trooper was treated and released at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center. Kapusciok was cited for basic speed.
