Three women arriving on flights arrested on drug charges in two incidents at Juneau’s airport

Drugs with a street value of more than $175,000 seized during arrests, according to JPD.

Three women were arrested during the past week in two separate incidents at Juneau International Airport involving the suspected smuggling of drugs on flights from Seattle to Juneau, the Juneau Police Department announced Monday.

The first incident occurred Tuesday, Sept. 24, when Joni Land, 41, of Juneau, was confronted after disembarking from a flight by investigators with the Southeast Alaska Cities Against Drugs, according to a JPD information release. Officials found drugs with an estimated street value of $20,600 including 99.33 grams of powdered fentanyl, 14.31 grams of blue fentanyl pills labeled M/30 (approximately 150 pills), 28.62 grams of cocaine and 5.34 grams of methamphetamine.

Land was arrested on two counts of second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, one count of third-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance and one count of fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance. She was taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

The second incident occurred Friday, Sept. 27, when two women were departing a plane, according to a second JPD information release.

“The women were exhibiting behavior consistent with persons under the influence of controlled substances,” the release states. “A piece of a Xanax pill and a suspected fentanyl pill were located near where one of the women was standing.”

During a subsequent investigation officials found 598 grams of blue fentanyl pills imprinted M/30 (approximately 5,200 pills), 80.55 grams of cocaine, 97.43 grams of methamphetamine and 188.22 grams of heroin. The drugs have an estimated street value of $155,700.

Tanya Chapman, 50, of Washington, was arrested for second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance and two counts of fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance. Holli Bell, 44, of Washington, was arrested for two counts of second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, two counts of third-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance and four counts of fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance.

Chapman and Bell were both taken to LCCC.
