Troopers to review alleged Sitka police violence

Alaska State Troopers will investigate the controversial arrest of a high school student in Sitka.

In a widely publicized video, Sitka police are shown using a taser on 18-year-old Franklin Hoogendorn while he was in police custody in September 2014.

The review was first reported by KCAW-FM in Sitka and was requested by the Sitka Police Department, the radio station reported.

Video footage of the arrest was captured by closed-circuit TV cameras and posted on YouTube in late October. It has since received more than 35,000 views.
