The University of Alaska Southeast is hosting a memorial service in remembrance of Richard Dauenhauer, the poet and translator who died in August 2014 of cancer.
Dauenhauer and his wife, Nora Marks Dauenhauer collaborated on works that helped the survival of the Tlingit language.
Friday’s event includes readings and memories from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Egan Lecture Hall at UAS. A social hour will take place from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Glacier View Room following.
