The University of Alaska Southeast is one of the country’s “hidden gems,” according to one website.
College Raptor, a site that seeks out overlooked colleges to find better financial, social and academic fits for students throughout the country, released its annual list of “Hidden Gems” this week and included UAS. Last year, College Raptor didn’t include a college from Alaska on its list.
To qualify for the list, a school must have an undergraduate enrollment of under 7,000. It also must receive fewer than 5,000 applications per year or be less than the 40th percentile of applications received by all schools in the state. UAS, with an enrollment of 2,800 and a student-to-faculty ratio of 9:1 according to College Raptor, ranked the highest among Alaska schools.
