Established in 1891, some of Juneau’s most notable figures rest in Evergreen Cemetery downtown. Marie Drake, Andrew P. Kashevaroff, John Olds and Mary Joyce are among the 8,000 Juneau residents who found their final resting place in the cemetery.
To learn more about this historic place, join local resident and 2015 Alaska Women’s Hall of Fame inductee Marie Darlin for a tour of the cemetery grounds on Sept. 9 at 1-2:20 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for children.
The event, sponsored by the Juneau-Douglas City Museum, includes free museum admission, a copy of the Evergreen Cemetery Historical Walking Guide and a coupon for the museum’s gift shop. The tour will begin at the city museum and end at the cemetery, a short walk away.
Space is limited. Advanced reservations and payment are recommended. To purchase tickets, call the museum at 586-3572.
