Gov. Bill Walker has signed a bill to erase the online court records of people who have been acquitted of crimes in Alaska.
Courtview is the state’s searchable online court records database. House Bill 11, sponsored by Rep. Tammie Wilson, R-North Pole, directs the Alaska Court System to scrub Courtview of the records of people who have been acquitted of crimes or had charges dropped against them.
The bill becomes law Oct. 1.
Paper copies of the records will remain available at the state’s courthouses.
