Wasilla man charged with firing gun at Sutton bonfire party

ANCHORAGE — A 26-year-old Wasilla man suspected of firing shots at people gathered for a bonfire in Sutton has been charged with felony assault.

Alaska State Troopers said Randi J.D. Lee shot toward the crowd from a moving sport utility vehicle, grazing one person and striking two parked vehicles.

Troopers just after 2 a.m. Sunday took a report of the shooting at the end of Jonesville Mine Road in Sutton.

Witnesses said a passenger in a white SUV fired at the crowd and fled toward Palmer.

Troopers stopped a white SUV near the Glenn Highway and Palmer Fishhook Road in Palmer. Lee was inside.

He’s charged with eight counts of assault, weapons misconduct and criminal mischief.

He remained jailed Monday in Palmer. Online court records did not list his attorney.
