Jeffery Kauffman of Wasilla has been named an alternate to an Alaska resident seat on the International Pacific Halibut Commission. The commission annually sets quotas for halibut catches in Alaskan, Canadian and Lower 48 waters off the Pacific Coast.
The announcement was made Monday and becomes effective Dec. 13. Also appointed as an alternate was Robert Alverson of Bothell, Washington.
The IPHC opened its annual interim meeting on Tuesday in Seattle with Don Lane in the Alaska resident seat.
