Icy conditions continue to plague Juneau drivers.
The driver of a Subaru Outback sat in the turn lane on Egan inbound, waiting to turn left onto Highland Drive a little before 9 a.m., as Juneau Police Department Officer Ken Colon told the Empire. The driver of a Toyota SUV headed outbound then lost control of their car on the ice and the car slid into the Subaru.
Neither driver suffered major injuries, Colon said, though the driver of the SUV was taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital as a precaution. Traffic was cut down to one lane on Egan inbound for a short time before reopening around 9:30.
Colon said neither driver was impaired, but that it was just a case of one driver going too fast on the ice. He urged drivers to slow down, as winter is still taking its toll on the roads.
“Hopefully we’re going to be seeing spring here soon,” Colon said.
