The National Weather Service expects 4 to 6 inches of snow to fall in Juneau and around Southeast today, continuing through Monday.
A weather front is moving across the eastern Gulf of Alaska, carrying snow and rain into the Panhandle, according to an NWS winter storm warning issued Saturday afternoon.
The front is expected to combine with cold air already in place to produce heavy snowfall. A new weather system is expected to move in the Southeast region on Monday, when NWS expects the snow to turn to rain.
Confidence levels are below average for the exact snow amounts, the storm warning stated. The forecast will be updated as more information becomes available.
