ANCHORAGE — A homeless woman found dead last month in south Anchorage had heroin and alcohol in her body.
Anchorage police said 45-year-old Darlene Kunayak lived in downtown Anchorage and they don’t know how she made her way to woods above Potter Marsh.
Police said her body may have been dropped off May 7 near Goldenview Drive and Bulgaria Drive after she overdosed.
An autopsy found no injuries that would have resulted in death or any evidence of foul play. Police are asking witnesses with information on the death to contact them.
Police in an announcement say residents who encounter someone who may have overdosed on drugs to call 911 because emergency responders may have the ability to resuscitate them.
Anchorage police have investigated 11 deaths involving heroin overdose in 2016.
