ANCHORAGE — Anchorage police are investigating an attempted robbery and stabbing on a bike path along the Glenn Highway.
Police said a man Sunday afternoon approached a woman and tried taking her bag as she walked alone on the bike path a mile north of a Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson gate.
When she resisted, the man stabbed her in the torso and ran off. The woman managed to keep her bag.
She used a cellphone to call for help.
A friend drove her to the military base gate, where she was met by medics and police. She was treated for the stab wound at an Anchorage hospital and released.
The woman describes the suspect as a black man of average height and build. He wore a gray sweat shirt and blue jeans.
