NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The New York Yankees have acquired infielder Starlin Castro from the Chicago Cubs for pitcher Adam Warren and a player to be named.
The trade between wild-card teams was announced Tuesday night at the winter meetings. Earlier in the day, the Cubs and free-agent infielder Ben Zobrist reached agreement on a four-year contract.
The 25-year-old Castro hit .265 with 11 home runs and 69 RBIs last season. He’s spent most of his career at shortstop, but shifted over to second base late this year.
The 28-year-old Warren was went 7-7 with a 3.29 ERA last season. He made 17 starts and pitched 43 games overall.
