Eugene A. Smith
Eugene A. Smith passed away at home Dec. 2, 2016, due to a sudden illness. He was 82.
Smith was born in 1934 in Waco, Texas, to Evanda Albion “E.A.” and Henrietta Harrison Smith.
He graduated from Baylor University, was a Marine Corps veteran, was a budget analyst for the State of Alaska from 1967-1986. He was the owner and manager of Evergreen Properties in Juneau since 1971, and also founded Inside Passage Auto Parts in 1986.
Smith enjoyed traveling in the United States and to many countries around the world. He was active in several community groups in Juneau including the Filipino Community, the Episcopal Church Deanery, and the Hospital Board. He represented Baylor University at the annual JDHS college fair.
He is survived by his children: Joel E. Smith of Juneau; Jennifer L. Smith of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Ian L. Smith of Juneau; Marx C. Smith of Fairbanks; and by his sister Carolynn S. Powell of Waco, Texas.
A Memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Dec 26 at St. Brendan’s Episcopal Church, 4207 Mendenhall Loop Rd.
