George Leonard Davis
George Leonard Davis died Nov. 20, 2017, at Bartlett Regional Hospital. He was 90 years old.
Davis was born Feb. 22, 1927, in Kake, Alaska, to Lucy and Nick Davis. He attended high school at Wrangell Institute in Wrangell, Alaska, before making a living off commercial fishing and subsistence.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1946 to 1948.He was employed with the Bureau of Indian Affairs with Property and Supply in 1971 where he worked for 23 years. He enjoyed fishing, storytelling, attending church, holding prayer meetings, Tlingit translating for organizations around Juneau, and spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes Davis; children, Christina Davis and Marcus Davis; grandchildren, Artemio Sandoval, Aaron Davis, Breanna Davis, Nicole Dorado-Smith, Rebecca Dorado and Richard Dorado.
He was preceded in death by his 13 siblings, Rebecca Rose, Wilma Kersey, Harriet Williams, Esther Bremner, Virginia Cabana, Edith Bean, Amy Skeek, Virginia Davis, Ruth Davis, Lloyd Davis, Henry Davis, Albert Davis; and by his two daughters, Georgette Davis-Light and Tracy Davis-Bertram.
