John Larsen died last week at age 95, surrounded by friends and family.
Born in Warsaw, New York, to Dorothy (Radliff) Larsen and John Larsen Sr., he had two younger brothers, Bill and Paul. John first moved to Alaska in the early 1950s. He married Betty Russell in Anchorage and had a daughter, Mary. The family moved to Douglas in 1964 and lived there until John and Betty retired in 1978. John and Betty spent the first half of their retirement living in North Carolina in the winters and at their cottage in Georgian Bay, Ontario, in the summers. They returned to Juneau in 2000. John was preceded in death by his wife Betty and his brothers. He is survived by his daughter, Mary, and nieces and nephews Jan, Kris, David, John C. and Larry.
A reception to honor Larsen’s life will be held on Thursday, April 5 from 5-7 p.m. at the Prospector Hotel. Please come share memories with us.
