Robert W. Loescher
Robert (Bob) W. Loescher passed away on Nov. 12, 2015. He was 68 years old.
He was born on July 5, 1947, to Esther Bailey Loescher Clark in Juneau. His Tlingit name was Kahtushtu’ and he was of the Eagle moiety, Chookeneidi Clan — the people of Glacier Bay and Hoonah.
His professional career included commercial hand trolling, work with Alaska Legal Services, Tlingit-Haida Regional Housing Authority, Tlingit-Haida Regional Electrical Authority, T&H Housing Development Corporation and 25 years with Sealaska Corporation.
In his retirement, Bob remained actively involved in a myriad of economic and business development projects, as well as legal, political and natural resource issues of importance to the Alaska Native people.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother, maternal aunt Ruth Young and sister Wilda I. Loescher.
He is survived by his sister Wanda Culp; children Christy (Charles) Finn, Robert T. Loscher and Cory MacDonald; grandsons Michael Loescher, Donovan Brown, Dylan Belanger and Charles Finn; nieces Angel Brown and Renee Culp; numerous relatives of the Chookeneidi and L’uk’nax.adi families as well as the family he built with his partner Linda.
Services were held Nov. 19 at the Elizabeth Peratrovich Hall in Juneau.
