Doris Ann Katzeek
Doris Ann Katzeek walked into the forest on Nov. 25, 2015. She was 67 years old.
She was born on Aug. 8, 1948, to Anna Klanott and George James Katzeek. She was a member of the Chilkat Shangukeidí (Thunderbird) Clan, House Lowered by the Sun and the Treebark House. Her father’s people were of the Raven/Whale House, Raven/Sockeye House, Raven/Snail House and the Raven/Frog House. She was a grandchild of the Eagle/Killerwhale House and an in-law to the Raven/Cohos of Sitka and Raven/Whales of Klukwan. She is also related to the Abbott and Sheakley families.
She was preceded in death by her father, George James Katzeek of the Gaanaxteidi Clan; her mother, Anna Klanott; her brother, James; her sister, Janice; her grandparents, James and Mary Klanott, and Margaret Judson of the Gaanaxteidi Clan and Dan Katzeek.
Her service will be held at 6 p.m. at the Northern Light United Church on Thursday, Dec. 3 and officiated by the Rev. Phil Campbell. Honorary pall bearers will be Smith Katzeek, Gaanaxteidi; Aaron Katzeek, Gaanaxteidi; Brian Katzeek, L’uknax.ádi; Paul Marks, Lukaax.ádi; Josh Jackson, T’akdeintaan; Ishmael Hope, Kiks.ádi; and Joe Zuboff, Deisheetaan.
