Elizabeth May Miller (née Lacock) stepped into the light on April 9, 2017. She was born in Hinsdale, Montana, to Rolla and Laura Griggs Lacock on July 7, 1926.
Her husband Frederick moved his family to Alaska to work for the CAA and ended up in Yakutat in 1958 just prior to Alaska statehood. To provide a reliable electricity supply in Yakutat, the Millers invested in a power generation facility for the community. They built and operated Yakutat Power, Inc. from 1967 through 1990.
Beth was preceded in death by her brother Luther Lacock, sisters Edith and Anna, and brother John. Her husband Fred died in 1991 and her son, Gary in 1974. Survivors include her daughter Roxanne Stewart of Juneau, granddaughter Brooke and her husband John Stewart, and great-grandchildren Soren, Linnea, Sam and Annika Stewart of Woodinville, Washington. She is also survived by her brother, Steve Lacock and his wife, Alice of Wylie, Texas.
Beth spent almost two years in the warm, nurturing care of the Juneau Pioneers’ Home where a Celebration of Her Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18.
