George Clifford Messerschmidt
George Clifford Messerschmidt passed away on July 16, 2015. He was 59 years old.
Messerschmidt graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School in 1975 and attended Columbia Basin College. He worked on the Pipeline, went to airline reservation school in California and worked for the State of Alaska through the Alaska Marine Highway System. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1981-85, and was in the reserves from 1985-91. After the Army he went back to work for the State of Alaska until he medically retired in 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Geri; daughter, Andrea; his father, George H. and his wife Alice; brothers, Kris, Bruce, Steve and Forrest, as well as their spouses and children and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
His mother Dorothy and both sets of grandparents preceded him in death.
A celebration of life is scheduled for June 18, 2016, from 2-5 p.m. at the Juneau Moose lodge. There will be a potluck and attendees are asked to bring a dish to share. Casual dress is fine for this celebration, and family and friends of the deceased are invited to attend.
