Vika Heleine ‘Ita’aehau Tupou

Vika Heleine ‘Ita’aehau Tupou passed away on Nov. 8, 2016. She was 81 years old.

She was born July 5, 1935, in Ha’akame, Tonga. She attended Ha’alalo Elementary and Liahona High School. She married Sione Matakaiongo Tupou on July 7, 1955, at Matavai Mo’ui. They started their family in Tonga then immigrated to Juneau in 1988 where they raised their children.

She loved singing with her husband, her sister, Leonita and her late brother-in-law Alifeleti. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and serving others.

One of her grandchildren said, “There wasn’t anyone Grandma Neine didn’t love. If she knew you, she loved you. Her heart was so big, she would have adopted the world, if she could.” She was always willing to listen and to laugh with everyone who visited her. She proudly posted pictures of her children and grandchildren around her home.

She was preceded in death by her son, Tupou, and her husband, Sione.

She is survived by her children, Leitoni Tupou and spouse Lori, Siua Tupou and spouse Rose, Siosi Talamaiand spouse Sifa, Kueni Ma’ake and spouse Tevita, Paula Tupou and spouse Romie, Fe’ao Tupou and spouse Va’esiu, Meliame Veikoso and spouse Fe’ao, Victor Tupou and spouse Stacey, Sifa Tupou and spouse Mysti, Feleti Tupou and spouse Irene and Romney Tupou and spouse JJ.

She has 50 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will held on Nov. 12. The funeral service will take at noon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5100 Glacier Highway. The burial will be at 1 p.m. at the Alaskan Memorial Park and Mortuary. A reception will follow at 2 p.m. at 10585 Glacier Highway.
