The AARP Alaska Juneau Community Action Team partnered with the Juneau Commission on Sustainability to produce a five-part Zoom series on carbon footprint and sustainability.
The first session was live on Zoom last Wednesday, March 9. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to broadcast the program on Facebook Live (as planned) and only those who had signed up in advance were able to participate. We apologize for any inconvenience. For anyone interested in viewing this intro to the series that provides a basic overview of carbon footprint and ways Juneau is working to reduce our community carbon footprint, the video is available here: https://youtu.be/aPos57YzTcc.
For anyone who is interested in the upcoming four sessions, all held on Wednesdays from 6-7:30 p.m., people are encouraged to sign up in advance at https://states.aarp.org/alaska/reducing-our-carbon-footprint or from AARP Alaska’s Facebook page. We plan to livestream the remaining four sessions on AARP Alaska’s Facebook page, but just in case, if you sign up in advance you can be sure that you will be able to join via Zoom.
The remaining Wednesday evening sessions include:
March 23, Home green home — focusing on reducing the carbon footprint of buildings while saving money; April 6, Getting around — focusing on transportation, including electric vehicles, walking and biking; April 20 — focusing on grub and garbage, reducing the carbon footprint of food and waste; and finally May 4 – focusing on health impacts of climate change and building community and personal resilience and reducing anxiety in times of change.
The focus of the series is to provide tools and tips that empower viewers to take individual and collective action.
