Letter: Bringing kindness to Juneau

My name is Stacia, I am 15 years old and a sophomore at Thunder Mountain High School. I have lived in Juneau for most of my life.

Being a teenager in today’s society can be very hard. Well, being anyone in today’s society can be hard. I have noticed a lot during my high school and middle school careers. I have witnessed a lot from other students that is unkind, and I am not always so kind myself.

I believe that being on the 2017 Year of Kindness steering committee, I cannot only help myself become kinder, but also help the rest of Juneau as well. I think that by bringing kindness to Juneau we can create a better community than Juneau already is. I also believe that with a kinder community, we can encourage other communities around the world to do the same.

With pairing up with the international organization “Random Acts” I hope that our kindness campaign will be successful, and that we will come together as a community to make Juneau better, kinder place.

The groups who have adopted weeks for kindness surges in the month of March are:

Feb. 26-March 4: Salix Book Club

March 5- 11: Juneau Youth Services

March 12- 18: Girl Scouts of America

March 19- 25: Nutrition Services (BRH)

March 26- April 1: University of Alaska Southeast
