There was no shortage of spirited debate in the Empire’s opinion section this year. With a tumultuous political landscape on the national and state levels, as well as an October city election, it’s no surprise Juneauites and Outsiders alike wrote the Empire to debate, inform, express their opinion and sometimes just vent.
The state’s budget crisis, the debate over health care reform and the buyout of Alaska Electric Light and Power were all popular topics which spurred lively opinions this year.
