Juneau-Douglas High School volleyball ended their bid for a state championship Friday in Anchorage, losing to Colony High School in their second match.
The Knights beat the Crimson Bears in straight sets 25-23, 25-11, 25-19 for a 75-53 final. The writing was on the wall for JDHS after a first-round, straight-set loss to Wasilla, a team JDHS beat earlier in the season. JDHS then dropped to the loser’s bracket for their Friday morning match against Colony, a team that overcame the Crimson Bears three times already this season.
JDHS junior hitter Cassie Dzinich was named player of the game in their loss to the Knights.
