Women’s Bracket

Hoonah 47, Angoon 45

Hoonah rebounded from its Tuesday night loss against Haines with a close win over Angoon on Wednesday. Amber White scored 15 points for Hoonah and Carmaleeda Estrada scored 21 points for Angoon. Hoonah plays the loser of Thursday night’s game between Yakutat and Haines in the semifinals Friday at 2 p.m.

B Bracket

Angoon 96, Kake 75

Though it was the second meeting between Angoon and Kake in this year’s Gold Medal Tournament, Wednesday afternoon’s game hardly resembled a rematch. Clayton Edwin, who was absent for Angoon early on, scored 46 points. Meanwhile, Kake players not named Tracy or Shea Jackson scored 26 less points than they did Sunday against Angoon.

Wrangell 87, Hydaburg 68

Wrangell’s Ryan Reeves scored 22 points — taking off for several dunks — as Wrangell eliminated Hydaburg from the Gold Medal Tournament on Wednesday night. Not even 47 points from Vinny Edenshaw could prevent Hydaburg’s tournament-ending loss.
