The Thunder Mountain High School boys basketball team applied the defensive pressure needed to eke out a win Saturday night against Lathrop High School.
The Falcons held the Malamutes to just four points in the fourth quarter for a come-from-behind 50-49 win on the road.
TMHS’s Chase Saviers led all scorers with 18 points, which included sinking five 3-pointers. Shane Mielke added eight and Riley Olsen had six.
Jeremiah Handy led Lathrop with 12 points.
The Falcons jumped out to a narrow 17-16 lead to end the first behind four 3-pointers from Saviers. TMHS then extended its lead to 33-27 at the half with a balanced scoring effort.
The Malamutes battled back and put 18 third-quarter points on the board to reclaim the lead, 45-42, while holding the Falcons to just three field goals. The Falcons returned the favor and all but shut down Lathrop to steal the road win.
