Falcons end 5-game road trip at Bartlett

The Thunder Mountain High School girls basketball team closed out its five-game road trip against Bartlett High School on Saturday.

The Falcons (2-4) couldn’t generate enough offense to overcome an eight-point deficit leading into the fourth quarter, falling to Bartlett 48-33 to end its road series with a 2-3 record. The Falcons played five games in five nights against different teams.

The Falcons’ Ava Tompkins led all scorers with 20 points, followed by Elondra Echiverri with seven and Nina Fenumiai with six. They were the only TMHS players to find the net on Saturday.

Bartlett’s Brandee Hawley scored 17 to lead her team, with included making four 3-pointers.

Bartlett took a slight 18-14 edge after one period, and expanded its lead to 31-21 at the half. The Falcons outscored Bartlett 10-7 in the third quarter but managed only a single field goal in the fourth.

The Falcons made 12 field goals, one from 3-point range, and shot 4-of-11 from the free throw line. Bartlett made 11 field goals, with seven made from behind the 3-point arc, and sank 5-of-6 from the charity stripe.

EAGLE RIVER 13

The Falcons girls basketball team made easy work of Eagle River on Friday, 52-13.

TMHS was led by Nina Fenumaia’s game-high 14 points. Ava Tompkins scored nine points, and Haleigh DiCarlo and Cyrene Udippa had eight each.

The Falcons sprinted out to a 15-2 lead after one quarter of play behind six points from Fenumiai, and then held Eagle River scoreless in the second for a 33-2 advantage going into the locker room.

Eagle River was able to muster some points in the third, scoring two field goals and shooting 6-of-8 from the free throw line, but the Falcons scored 14 in the period, six from Tompkins, for a 47-12 edge.

The Falcons held Eagle River to just one point in the fourth.

Thunder Mountain made 21 field goals, two from 3-point range, and shot 4-of-8 form the free throw line. Eagle River made three field goals and shot 7-of-14 from the free throw line.
