Former JDHS athlete to play in overseas tourney

A former Juneau-Douglas High School football and basketball player has been selected to play in a collegiate and semi-pro tournament in Barbados next week.

Adam Empson is playing on a basketball team with USA Student Athletes, a college recruiting organization, in the Caribbean nation June 18-27.

Empson, a football player with Colorado State University-Pueblo, was nominated by his college coach. USA Student Athlete World Tours depends on nominations from college coaches to develop competitive teams for its international travel competitions and only selects high character athletes for their programs.

“I am happy to get out of the country for some good competition and represent myself and USA Student Athletes,” Empson Said.
