AWARE is seeking coaches for empowerment programs Girls on the Run and Boys Run: I toowú klatseen.
Girls on the Run and Boys Run: I toowú klatseen are for 3rd-8th graders who participate in running games that teach life lessons about identifying values, working together and giving back to the community. The program ends with a 5k event to celebrate their work over the 12 and 10-week programs on May 14.
Coaches do not have be runners themselves. They must be positive role models who want to empower children. Coaches facilitate a set curriculum with 1.5 hour-long lessons one to two times per week for 10-12 weeks after school. The season will start in mid to late February.
First-time coaches will need to attend training sessions. Girls on the Run will meet on Feb. 6 and 20. Boys Run: I toowú klatseen training session will take place on Feb. 13.
