Voters at USA Today’s website have ranked Juneau-Douglas High School as the 19th best athletic program in the country as part of their America’s Best Athletic Program contest. Voting for the final round — which includes cash prizes to the winning programs — starts 8 a.m. today and lasts until 10 a.m. June 2.
Voters can participate by visiting usatodayhss.com. The athletic department of the winning high school will receive $2,500; second place will receive $1,500; third place will receive $500. The top three finishers will also receive a banner commemorating the win.
JDHS has progressed through two rounds so far, garnering 16,401 votes in the first round and 6,975 in the second. The top three finishers in the second and most recent round were: Maggie Walker, Richmond, Virginia with 40,635 votes; Old Rochester, Mattapoisett, Massachusetts with 36,897 votes and South Brunswick, Monmouth Junction, New Jersey with 29,641.
