The Alaska Sports Hall of Fame opened an interactive online voting page Friday for the Class of 2020. On the ballot, the public ranks their top-five people and top-three moments and events for induction into the hall of fame from a list.
The public voting period will go through Nov. 30.
Geoff Roes of Juneau, a nationally-acclaimed ultramarathoner, and George Nix of Sitka, Alaska’s first football player to play professionally, are among the people candidates for the 2020 class. Both Roes and Nix have appeared on the ballot before.
The nine-member selection panel reviews public votes before making their own selections. The cumulative public vote equals one of 11 total votes that make the final decision. The other 10 votes come from the selection panel and cumulative vote of current inductees.
