JDHS Back-to-School Doubles Tournament winners
The Juneau-Douglas High School tennis team hosted their annual Back-to-School Doubles Tournament at the Alaska Club, ending on Sunday.
The Juneau tennis community joined the JDHS team in the tournament that featured over 40 competitors and 34 matches. The tournament proceeds go to the JDHS tennis team.
Father-son duo Michael and Liam Penn fought off a slow start to overtake Jake Taylor and Juan Fitzpatrick, 9-7, to win the men’s lower division.
Three teams finished with a 2-1 record in the men’s upper division. The tiebreaker went to George Crowder and Gale Good, who had lost the fewest games out of the three.
A father-daughter duo won the mixed doubles crown. Randy and JDHS player Erica Hurtte finished with a perfect 3-0 record to win the division.
The women’s division was won by Josie Bahnke teamed Colleen McKenna with a perfect 4-0 record.
